The MeBioS research group at KU Leuven performs physical tests to determine the deformation and contact properties of representative samples provided by customers. KU Leuven has a range of testing devices — from statically and dynamical compression, bending, friction tests at the particle level, large-scale bulk tests and viscosity tests. The test results are used for material model calibration. Selection of the appropriate tests is done on a case-by-case basis.

Our relationship with KU Leuven is also crucial for the further development of particle-based methodology and its fundamental applications, for example in studying the microscopic properties of biological materials and multicellular structures (see 'Academic').
